Cyndy Brucato was born and raised in Chicago and is a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. Her first job after graduate school was as a reporter for the Lerner suburban newspaper chain, then as reporter/editor of the Chicago region EPA Journal.
Making the jump from print to broadcast journalism in 1975, Cyndy worked as a reporter for WBBM-TV in Chicago, reporter/anchorwoman for WDIO (Duluth), and WCCO-TV and KSTP-TV in the Twin Cities.
Cyndy moved into public affairs in 1990, taking the position of Director of Communications for the Minnesota Department of Transportation. In 1991, Governor Arne Carlson named her to be his press secretary and Deputy Chief-of-Staff.
Cyndy left the Governor's office in 1996 to start her own consulting business, C. Brucato & Associates Public Relations. In 1997 her husband joined her full time and the company was renamed BRUCATO & HALLIDAY, Ltd. Cyndy continued as president and CEO and her firm was certified as a Woman Business Enterprise.
In 2004, after an 18-year hiatus from broadcasting, Cyndy took a leave-of-absence from her own company and returned to KSTP-TV as principal anchor for their evening newscasts. She remained on the Channel 5 anchor desk until September 2010.
At the end of the six year leave, Cyndy returned to BRUCATO & HALLIDAY and is "of counsel".
